Also, because Etsy is a handmade and vintage site, some of the jewelry you have seen on this blog or at a show can not be sold on Etsy. Therefore, I will put those items such as thethe items below on this blog for sale. I am still trying to work out logistics with payment - I will use PayPal, but need to figure out how to make it user friendly! Please be patient because I have some AWESOME costume jewelry!

Christmas in July Sale
This month, some of the shop owners on Etsy decided to have a Christmas in July Sale. Hundreds of vendors are selling thousands of items for discounted prices and/or free shipping.
I decided to participate. http://www.jenniferwilcox.etsy.com/ will be offering 20% off the entire shop PLUS free shipping anywhere in the continental US. I have spend the last several weeks updating inventory. I have created some beautiful pieces! I have fun summery necklaces with semiprecious stones. These necklaces are perfect for layering for a 'Flapper' look or wearing alone for simple sparkle. I have great southwestern styles with turquoise, red coral, orange shell, brown cats eye and other great gems. These items go with anything and add instant color and interest to your outfit. I have also created several pearl pieces - some pieces are classic Jackie O - and others are more modern with ribbon ties and Czech Crystals.
The sale for my shop runs from not until July 31st. Just click on the link above to see a large selection of my Bleu Bird Designs - or contact me at bleubirddesign@gmail.com if you are interested in hosting a party.

Bleu Bird On Etsy
Hey all! I just opened my Etsy account on Sunday. The account had been up for less than an hour before I got my first sale!!! Woo Hoo! You can find me at www.jenniferwilcox.etsy.com You will find some of the same items posted here on my Etsy, but I have several great summer necklaces posted on Etsy. I think the check out process it easier on Etsy too! However you can still contact me at bleubirddesign@gmail.com with any orders and/or requests.
I have added some great summer necklaces to the collection. I love the way they look layered. But I also wear them alone. The colors are bright and happy. I have green, pink, and orange left. Sorry - I'm already sold out of the turquoise! Each necklace is a combination of semi prescious stones, shell, Swarovski Crystals and or glass. Each necklace has different intensities of color. For example, on the Orange Citrus Necklace I have peach, bright orange, bronze and an orange so light it's almost cream. All of the necklaces seen here are photographed individually on Etsy.

Wedding in Vegas
Last month I was lucky enough to be asked to do the flowers for a wedding in Vegas...well Henderson actually.
I had a great time and was able to establish new vendor contacts.
Stacie chose cobalt blue and spring green for her colors. I have to insert my opinion here - In my humble opinion, the colors you choose should match the season in which you are getting married. I hate doing a red rose bouquet in April or a pastel bouquet in October. Take a cue from Mother Nature! By sticking with seasonal colors you open up your options for flowers. The blue and green of this wedding were bright and refreshing. We were able to use beautiful green viburnum blossoms, as well as fragrant muscari, (grape hycianth), for part of the blue. Both of these flowers are available only in the spring.
For her bouquet Staci chose blue delph, blue muscari, white lizianthus, white roses, lily of the valley, and stephanotis. Simple, beautiful and very fragrant! The grooms bout should look like it has been plucked from the brides bouquet. So for Zach we chose a white rose, lily of the valley, one steph and a delph. bloom. We were able to incorporate all of the colors and keep the bout small. NO corsages for the men please! Keep the bouts small and simple. Grooms men were a white rose and steph. Again, simple and elegant.
Speaking of corsages, lately I have seen new, pretty wristlets for corsages. For most of us, when we hear the words 'wrist corsage' we picture those nasty elastic and metal contraptions that hold the flowers to the wrist. Finally somebody decided to produce beautiful wristlet bands for corsages. I used beaded bands that had iridescent white beads with silver detailing. They looked great on their own, but with a corsage on top they looked AMAZING! The sisters actually WANTED to wear their corsages! These wristlets do run quite a bit more than the standard white elastic - but come on! This is your wedding! Pay the extra for these wristlets. You will be glad you did!
The centerpieces for this wedding were all a bit different. The wedding party purchased blue and white Oriental vases of varying shapes and sizes. Some were tall and thin and others were short and fat. The height variation added a nice look to the room - it was uniform because they all contained the same colors and for the most part the same flowers, but the height variation made the room look interesting. Wedding guests walked from table to table to examine the centerpieces - which is nice because sometimes centerpieces get overlooked. (I'll post on centerpieces later - there are some important ground rules to follow when selecting your centerpiece containers etc.)
All in all this was a great experience. The family was very happy with the flowers and again I learned a lot. Thank you Jim, Mel, Zach and Stacie!

Welcome!
Welcome to Bleu Bird Design! Please feel free to visit my Floral Gallery and/or Jewelry Gallery! Both will allow you to see a small sample of my work. I am so lucky to have been trained in such fun and beautiful arts! It is a pleasure to create "Lovely Things"!
I have been in the floral and wedding industry for over 15 years. While in high school, I was trained by the talented Bill Shanks, former owner of Shank's floral in Bountiful, Utah. Bill taught me the importance of using only the freshest high quality flowers. Bill also showed me that details, no matter how small, matter! I take pride in putting special detail into each floral piece I create. I have also worked as the Head Floral Designer for Heritage Gardens, and have also co owned my own floral business, Lavender and Sage.
I love meeting with clients to create one of a kind floral pieces!
Please check the blog often. I will post about wedding trends, traditions, fun facts, and highlight amazing vendors who can help you create a perfect wedding or party!
Two years ago, my book group decided to make crafts for Christmas. A couple of very talented girls took it upon themselves to teach us how to make soldered pendants...the rest is history! I began making soldered pendants for family, then friends, then anybody who wanted to buy one from me. The soldering led to beading and chains, now here I am!
I participated in my first boutique - for my jewelry - on March 19th, 2010. I had such a great time! The feed back I receive from customers is wonderful! The question I was asked most was, "Do you do parties?'.
The more I thought about it, the more I thought it was a good idea - not only for me, but for the customer. I do such a large quantity of pieces, there is no way I could show them all on a website or blog. Jewelry parties are the perfect way to showcase all my work. Also, mass production for me is making 10 MAX of one piece- which means the customer is getting very unique and original jewelry. The odds of running into somebody wearing the same necklace is very slim. Another benefit for the customers is, unlike most parties, my product is there - you buy it and take it home that day/night. No ordering from catalogs and waiting weeks to get your pieces! Please check the Jewelry Gallery often, as I will update my inventory often!
If you are interested in meeting with me to discuss flowers for your wedding and /or Special Event - or if you are interested in hosting a Bleu Bird Jewerly Party, (in the State of Utah - Davis, Salt Lake and Utah Counties), please contact me at bleubirddesign@gmail.com .
Thanks!
